Panforte
Pasticceria Marabissi- At the beginning of the 12th Century the first spices made their way from the far east into the abbeys and noble households of Italy. There are written documents that describe the honey flavoured and spiced breads in monasteries of that period. The exact origins of Panforte are lost, but by the mid 15th century chemists from Siena applied for a special ruling that gave them the exclusive right to make and sell Panforte. In 1829 the first Panforte factory was built by Giovanni Parenti in Siena.

It was the incredible Panforte that first drew us to Maribissi and the packaging is one of our favourite pieces of Italian design!
